In the first Toy Story the soldiers set out on a mission to spy on Andy’s birthday presents so that they can warn the toys about what is coming. They use baby monitors to talk back and forth.

The soldiers have a very small role in Toy Story 2 and are only seen a few times throughout the movie.

In Toy Story 3 there are only a few of the 200 green army men left and they try to help the toys get played with again by Andy. But after their attempt fails, they parachute out the window so that they can avoid being thrown out.
